The Ferns October 2024 Ofsted report

We are delighted to inform you that The Ferns has been judged as a good school in all areas!

In the attached report, you will note the Inspector’s observation that behaviour at The Ferns has been transformed; children rise to the high expectations for behaviour and learning and, as a result, feel happy and safe at school. It is a delight to see recognition given to the respectful behaviour that now permeates throughout The Ferns and enables pupils to focus on learning without any distractions, listen well and work hard.

We are particularly proud that the broad and ambitious curriculum at The Ferns has been recognised, along with the aspiration for all pupils to read fluently as swiftly as possible. Pupils’ additional needs are identified precisely, SEND support is well-considered and the use of appropriate strategies enables pupils with SEND to access the curriculum effectively. We are delighted that the Inspector observed the impact of the improvements that are making a real difference to pupils’ learning and lives.

We are incredibly pleased that the realisation of our Kite vision - for every pupil to be happy and healthy, to contribute positively to their communities and achieve academic excellence – shines through in the report findings. We could not be prouder of our ‘well-mannered and polite’ pupils at The Ferns who demonstrate positive attitudes to learning, determination and perseverance to be successful!
